Enable Year-Round Training at J-Bay SCUBA

Hi, I’m Paul van Jaarsveld, owner of J-Bay SCUBA in Jeffreys Bay. For over a decade, my family and I have been running dive charters, snorkeling trips, gear rentals, air fills, and ocean safaris. My oldest son now works with me on the water, while my wife and youngest son support us from home. We have built a loyal community of divers, surfers, and ocean lovers who support us as a family business.

The challenge We have never had a full-time resident instructor. We’ve always relied on part-time or visiting instructors, which has become a serious limitation. We regularly lose walk-in business — especially from tourists with limited time — because an instructor isn’t available on short notice. This has cost us real income and disappointed potential students. In the past it was impossible to leave the business and focus 100% on training, as this would mean we would not have the funds to cover living and running expenses during that time.
