Encore! The Show Must Go On

Founded in 1947 the HHDS (The Playhouse Theatre) has been a cultural landmark and social hub for the Helderberg and greater Cape Town region for nearly 80 years!

As a community-led Non-Profit Organisation, the fact that The Playhouse Theatre - wholly run and supported by amazing volunteers and members, none of whom are salaried full-time employees - has been operating for almost eight decades is a testament to the amazing community with whom we work. Without you, this would not have been possible!

Volunteers and members, cast and crew, patrons and friends have poured their passions and love of the arts into the society over the decades, bringing much needed joy, laughter, and even tears to thousands of patrons. They have all allowed us not only to continue to surprise and delight with incredible performances and shows, but have also helped us give back to the community through our various charity and community outreach programs.
