Every child deserves a chance to be a child. To play, to learn, to feel safe, to be cared for and to discover the world around them. Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up knowing that they matter and that their future holds possibilities.

Yet, in our rural South African communities, there are young children growing up without access to early childhood development (ECD) programmes. Some spend their early years at home, missing out on the play, stimulation, friendships and learning that help prepare them for school and for life. Their caregivers may also be trying to navigate challenges in accessing nutritious food, healthcare, birth certificates, social grants and other essential support.

Behind every child is a story. A caregiver doing their best. A family with hopes for the future. And sometimes, a child whose needs have simply not yet been seen.
