Fairmount Financial Crisis

Fairmount Secondary School, like many other underprivileged schools in South Africa, is in a state of financial crisis. In times of crisis, one reaches out to family, friends, and partners to come alongside to be a support; therefore, we are reaching out to you!

As you may be aware, many of our learners come from Parkwood/Lotus River/Ottery, which are low-income areas (roughly 85% of learners receive SASSA). Often, our learners come from single-parent households or are cared for by grandparents who struggle to make ends meet. Unfortunately, a large number of families are unable to pay school fees (only 6-8% of school fees have been paid per annum for the past 5 years), and this has placed a tremendous strain on our school’s finances and resources. The non-payment of school fees will result in the loss of school governing body educators, increasing class sizes to 60+ learners.
