On the 3rd of January 2026 at 6am, 21 year old Stephan was taken to hospital having suffered severe stomach pain and nausea for 4 days, as it had not gotten any better at all. He was admitted to ICU in high care unit in Pretoria, where doctors had performed a gastroscopy and conducted blood tests, and it was at this point that our family received the heartbreaking news of his shocking diagnosis: He was diagnosed with Aggressive/Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a form of blood cancer where his bone marrow is being attacked by rapidly multiplying white blood cells and bad stem cells are produced therefore. Chemotherapy is thus the first inline treatment but chemo will cost 450 000 per annum minimally, with special medication being added costs it might reach R2000000 annually, thus crippling the medical aid completely. Stephan will have his 22nd birthday on the 14th this month while in hospital receiving treatment, please help us to keep Stephan's young dreams alive, he is a young man that loves playing golf and many other sports, and loves life!
