Motivation for Fundraiser
The local farming and residential communities of the NW portion of the Vredefort Dome WHS have not been spared the ravages of ferocious wild fires in 2024. Spurred on by the effects of climate change, the fires have been much harsher and widespread than ever previously experienced. Despite of the extreme bravery and courage of the local firefighting crews who place themselves, their vehicles & equipment in harm’s way, the fires this year have unfortunately claimed their share of blood and treasure in that lives have been lost, a home has been destroyed, vehicles and equipment have been damaged or destroyed, thousands of hectares of grazing and flora have been lost, and numerous head of livestock and game have been lost.
