FLF School Reading Programme

The FLF School Programme has been at the heart of the Franschhoek Literary Festival since 2009. It grew out of the need to put books into the hands of learners at under resourced schools in Franschhoek. More so, to spark a LOVE of reading in order to nurture life-long reading and learning.  

To date, the programme has established and continues to run four school libraries providing staff, resources and most importantly, BOOKS for young readers. The FLF is proud to run activities, competitions and other fun events through the libraries throughout the year - all this in a sustained and concentrated effort to encourage a LOVE of reading.  

We host the much-anticipated Phendulani Literary Quiz in the Valley each year, where every participant walks away with a book of their very own - and some amazing prizes for the school libraries.  

To keep the programme running requires on-going funding, particularly if we are to reach the goal...
