Kilimanjaro 2026 – Meg Harvey’s 40th Birthday Climb for Compassion
This year, I turn 40.
And I’m choosing to mark it not with a party — but with a purpose.
In 2026, I will climb Mount Kilimanjaro once again — this time as CEO of the Society for Animals in Distress (SAID) — to raise funds and awareness for animals who cannot fight for themselves.
I climbed Kilimanjaro in 2017 while serving at the National Council of SPCAs, and that summit confirmed something I have always known: Animal welfare is not separate from human welfare. It is deeply connected.
Now, at 40, I climb again — fearlessly — because compassion needs visibility. Because empathy must be taught early. Because violence toward animals often mirrors violence toward people. Because if we want a safer South Africa, we must raise kinder children.
This climb is about more than altitude.
It is about attitude.
It is about Ubuntu.
It is about One Health. One Welfare. One shared future.
Ever...
