Friends of the Elephants

At Adventures With Elephants, every day begins before sunrise with the care of a remarkable family of elephants who have become ambassadors for education, conservation, and connection. Founded by the Hensman family in South Africa’s Waterberg region, our story began when a small group of elephants were rescued from a culling operation and given a second chance at life through the vision of the late Rory Hensman.

After decades spent working alongside wildlife, Rory believed that when people are able to walk beside, touch, and truly experience an elephant up close, they develop a far deeper understanding of conservation and the importance of protecting these extraordinary animals and the natural world around them.

Today, Adventures With Elephants continues that legacy by creating ethical, meaningful educational experiences that inspire people from around the world to become ambassadors for wildlife conservation.
