Alexander “Xander” Olivier is a brave 16-year-old who was diagnosed with Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis (LCA) — a rare genetic condition that causes progressive vision loss and ultimately blindness. This life-changing diagnosis means Xander had to adjust to a world much darker than the one he once knew.

Despite the odds, Xander continues to face each day with determination, strength, and hope. But behind his quiet courage is a daily struggle — one that he and our small family face together.

As a single mother of four, two of whom are still in school (including Xander’s 9-year-old sister), I do everything I can to make ends meet. But the costs of supporting a blind child are overwhelming — and currently, impossible to cover alone.
