From Soweto to Brazil, World Skate Championships

On behalf of the jhb skate club, we want to share the story of two of our Athletes who remind us every day why we do what we do.

Omphile and Molemo grew up in Soweto, where life can be tough and opportunities don’t always come easy. Like many kids, they faced real challenges. But they found something that changed their path, skateboarding. What started as curiosity turned into passion, then discipline, and eventually purpose. We’ve watched them fall, get back up, try again, and push harder than most adults ever do. Their determination is something you don’t teach, it comes from the heart.

Through pure hard work and commitment, they placed 1st and 2nd in the youth division nationally, earning the honor of being selected to represent South Africa at the World Championships in Brazil, a major step on the road to the Youth Olympic Games 2026.

We couldn’t be prouder of them. But the truth is, talent doesn’t pay for flights or competition costs. Their families simply don’t have the means to make this journey possible on their own.

That’s why we’re reaching out.Read More
