From the DRC to South Africa: A Vet’s Pursuit of His Dream
Jean Paul dreams of working as a vet in South Africa, but a R40 000 test stands in the way. Jean Paul is a qualified vet, from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), with a dream of being able to practice in South Africa – where there is a “massive shortage of vets...and vets are leaving the country en masse.” To do this, he needs to write a test to have his qualifications recognised, but this test is very expensive. It will cost him R40 000, excluding travel to and accommodation in Tshwane (Pretoria). Jean Paul needs assistance to help him reach his dream. Read his story below.
