Help a Stellenbosch Honours Student & Leader Overcome a R46,500 Funding Gap
My name is Estian de Jongh Maritz, and I am currently a BCom Honours student in Transport Economics at Stellenbosch University. My journey in higher education has been driven by a passion for solving South Africa's logistics and public transport challenges, as well as its Socio-economic challenges.
Throughout my time at Maties, I have strived to be more than just a student. I currently serve as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Logistics and hold leadership positions at Huis Visser Men’s Residence. I believe in giving back to the community that supports me, which is why I’ve dedicated my time to mentoring undergraduates and serving on residence committees.
I recently received the devastating news that my primary bursary application (ISFAP) was rejected. Despite working as a TA and successfully utilising an old student loan to cover the bulk of my fees, I am now facing a final shortfall of R48,000 for the 2026 academic year.
