My name is Dineo Mjodi, I’m 21 years old, and I’ve had one dream since I was a child — to fly. To become a pilot, not for attention, not for clout, but because something inside me has always felt bigger than the ground I was standing on. I wanted the Air Force, I wanted aerospace engineering, I wanted to chase the sky. But life… life has a way of testing how much you really want something. I was constantly sick in school — not just flu or fatigue, but sick in a way no one could really see. I couldn’t finish exams, I couldn’t keep up. I’d try, then fall back. I’d study, then collapse. My health collapsed my academics, and eventually, everything stopped. I was forced to leave school before I could write my matric. Not because I was lazy — but because I was breaking, silently. So I disappeared into myself, into a painful spiritual journey that nearly destroyed me but also saved me.
