Friends of GW

I am Lanie van Reenen, a longtime friend of Gerrit Wagenaar.

In the past year my house in Stanford burned down and I benefitted from a fundraising initiative on the Backabuddy platform. Not only did the funds that were raised help me find purchase again, it also conveyed the kindness and compassion of my community in my time of trauma and need.

I want to “pay this forward” to our friend GW as he negotiates the devastating diagnosis and effects of Parkinson’s Disease

Gerrit was diagnosed in 2015 when the first symptoms occurred. The illness has progressed aggressively over the past 15 months resulting in severe physical and cognitive deterioration – ultimately robbing him from earning a living from his profession as an Industrial Psychologist. He now is unable to drive a car and needs specialized care and medication in an assisted living environment.

Our financial assistance will convey our caring and friendship and assure this level of care for GW
