About This Campaign

Mental health remains one of South Africa’s most under-resourced health challenges and one of the most costly. 💚
This challenge intentionally combines extreme physical endurance with a message of mental resilience, support, and return - symbolised by running “Down” to Durban, and then turning around to "Get Back Up” to Pietermaritzburg.
The aim is not only to raise funds, but to spark sustained conversation and awareness around mental health support in South Africa.

The campaign will raise funds for Matthew&ME and South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG)

Matthew&ME is a nonprofit organization created in memory of 16-year-old Matthew, who tragically lost his battle with depression.
