Get Julian to the Start Line

My name is Julian Walsh,

I have been selected to represent South Africa at the 2026 World Rowing Under-23 Championships in Duisburg, Germany, from 23–26 July, where I will race in the men’s coxless four. In addition, Oxford Brookes University Boat Club has been invited to compete at the European University Rowing Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, from 26–29 August. Both campaigns are entirely self-funded, and I would greatly appreciate your support in helping me get there.

I first picked up an oar in 2017 at the age of 12 while attending St John’s Preparatory School in Johannesburg. From there, I earned an academic scholarship to St Andrew’s College in Grahamstown, where I won silver at the South African Schools Rowing Championships in the J16 coxless four and bronze at the South African Championships in the J16 eight.

I was later awarded a rowing scholarship to Shrewsbury School in the United Kingdom, where I completed my A Levels. One of the highlights of my time there when I was in the first Eight was reaching the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup quarter-final...
