Louie Needs Help to Beat Heartworm

We refuse to give up on this incredible dog. Louie is only 3 years old, but has been through more than any dog should ever have to. After being attacked and mutilated with a machete in Madagascar, Louie was rescued, and after months of treatment flown to South Africa. He was meant to be released from quarantine on Friday 3 July, when we found out he had tested positive for heartworm. 

Heartworm is treatable, but requires more funding. Hid boarding and final blood testing will cost about R2310 if he stays there for 6 weeks as planned - but he hope to have him out sooner. He will be at Kempton Park quarantine for a minumin of 4 weeks. His outgoing blood test will cost R2000. 

We are still waiting for the final details for the treatment cost itself. The cost depends on the maturity of the worms and his response, but we should know soon. This amount will be updated as soon as I have it. He has had one injection today (6 July) and will have another tomorrow (7 July). We HOPE that will be sufficient to treat the heartworm.
