Grant has a rare cancer. Can you help?

Grant has suffered from epilepsy for most of his life. He has serious learning disabilities which have prevented him from getting any long term work and is totally dependent on his mother who is a pensioner.

He has been diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called Pseudomyxoma Peritonei also known as PMP. It typically begins as a slow-growing, mucus-producing tumour or polyp in the appendix. The small tumor in the appendix produces a thick, jelly-like substance called mucin. Because it is a slow-growing condition, the tumor can silently progress for years without causing symptoms. Eventually, the tumor or the swollen appendix bursts through its own wall. When the wall ruptures, the tumor cells and mucin spill out into the abdominal (peritoneal) cavity. The spilled cancer cells do not spread through the bloodstream or lymphatic system like most cancers. Instead, they float freely in the abdominal fluid and "seed" or implant themselves onto the surfaces of other organs and the abdominal lining.
