GrowthProjectSA - Aidens Community Garden

My name is Aiden, and I am 14 years old and live in Johannesburg.

Three years ago, I heard about a small rural community in the Eastern Cape that has very limited access to medical care and resources. Hearing about the challenges faced by families in the area stayed with me, and I kept thinking about what I could do to help.

I had an idea. I wanted to do something meaningful by helping to build a community food garden. With the support of my school principal, I started fundraising at school by selling 3D-printed items to fellow students. Since then, I have continued fundraising every school term for the past three years.

What started as a small project has slowly grown into something much bigger.

With local support and kindness from community members and small businesses, we have already received donations of seeds and fertiliser. The community in the Eastern Cape is incredibly excited about the project and eager to help establish and maintain the garden.
