Guided by Nature: Support My Field Guide Training

Hi, I’m Shantez, a 21-year-old South African with a lifelong dream of working in nature and with wildlife. 🦁

Since I was a little girl, animals and nature have always been my happy place, a place where I feel purpose, curiosity, and deep respect. That passion has grown into a dream of becoming a qualified Field Guide, so that I can share the beauty of the wild with others while helping protect it.

I’m incredibly proud to say that I have already taken a big step toward this dream. I recently passed my FGASA Nature Site Guide theory exam with 92%, which was a huge milestone for me. 🎉

Now I need to complete the practical components required to officially qualify as a Field Guide.

My next step is to attend a 4-week practical mentorship course, where I will gain real bush experience and develop the guiding skills needed to work in the industry. Alongside this, I also need to complete several additional requirements, including:

• First Aid certification

• A Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
