Happy birthday, buddy!

All over the world, it’s common to celebrate a birthday at a restaurant, and here at home it’s no different. What could make a child happier on their special day than a juicy burger and chips, endless playtime, and the thought of the whole restaurant singing and clapping along as “Happy Birthday to you!” echoes through the room? And don’t forget the ice cream treat!

 It is such a simple way to celebrate the start of a new year of life. Yet the vast majority of the 170 children at Abraham Kriel Children’s Home have never had the chance to experience this in their family homes. But this year, we’re going to change that.

We’re planning to celebrate all our children’s birthdays together on one day in March, with a big birthday party at Spur. We’ve chosen this month specifically, as it is also the birthday month of our founder, Rev Abraham Kriel.
