My name is Kauther, and I am reaching out on behalf of my family who has endured an unimaginable loss.

In the first week of September last year, I received the most heartbreaking call—my mother’s home had been completely destroyed in a fire. In just one night, flames took away everything we held dear: our shelter, our belongings, and the memories within those walls.

While we are deeply grateful that every family member survived, life since that night has been a daily struggle. A full year has passed, and yet we still have not been able to recover. My siblings and my mother are currently living in extremely difficult conditions. They sleep on a pile of clothes and one old mattress, with pieces of wood held together as shelter. When it rains, everything gets soaked—their bedding, their clothing, and even the little food they sometimes have.
