Help Alida Lake Fight Polymyositis

We invite you to join us on a journey of courage, resilience and hope as we rally behind Alida Lake, a strong and determined woman battling a rare and relentless autoimmune disease known as Polymyositis.
Polymyositis is a chronic, inflammatory, and degenerative condition where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks healthy muscle tissue. 
This disease targets muscles closest to the trunk, particularly the hips, shoulders, and neck, leading to profound muscle weakness, pain, and fatigue. 
For Alida, this has meant losing the ability to walk, sit without support, or manage daily activities on her own.
Diagnosed in 2020, Alida’s world changed overnight. 
Once an energetic netball player and passionate journalist, she has been bedridden for the past three years and is currently wheelchair-bound. 
Despite these unimaginable physical limitations, her spirit and drive remain unshaken.
