Ava-Maré’s Story

Ava-Maré is a vibrant, energetic 6-year-old little girl with a beautiful zest for life. She loves school, climbing the jungle gym, doing cartwheels and handstands, and spending time with her friends. Her joyful spirit lights up every room she enters, and she is lovingly known as “Boo” by those closest to her.

In November 2022, Ava-Maré suffered a serious fall at daycare, sustaining a deep wound to the right side of her forehead that required stitches at Medicross. While it cannot be stated with absolute certainty that this fall caused what followed, subsequent medical investigations revealed neurological concerns.

While we can not 100% confirm the fall led to her seizures, an EEG later confirmed abnormal brain activity on the left side of her brain. As explained by her doctor, an injury to one side of the head can affect the opposite side of the brain.
