Caleb’s Journey – Update April 2026

I would like to give you a fuller picture of his journey — the road that brought us here, and the reality we are now facing.

Caleb was diagnosed at a very young age with a severe and rare neurological condition that caused him to suffer from relentless seizures — at times hundreds a day. Our days were filled with uncertainty, hospital visits, and the constant fear of what the next seizure could do to his tiny body.

After exhausting the options available to us closer to home, we were referred to specialists at Mediclinic Constantiaberg in Cape Town — one of the few facilities equipped to handle a case as complex as Caleb’s. It was not an easy decision to travel so far, but it was the only chance we had to give him a better quality of life… and ultimately, to save his life.

Shortly after being admitted, doctors confirmed that Caleb urgently needed major brain surgery.

His journey in hospital was nothing short of a fight for survival.
