Bernadine Du Plessis, born in 1975, is a devoted wife, loving mother of two, and a much-loved member of the Port Alfred community. As a substitute teacher at Port Alfred High School, she has dedicated years to supporting learners, encouraging young minds, and making a positive difference wherever she has been needed.
Today, Bernadine is facing one of the biggest battles of her life.
She has been diagnosed with Stage 3C2 cervical cancer and has been receiving treatment through a government hospital. Unfortunately, her treatment has reached a critical point where it cannot continue without an MRI scan. The hospital is unable to provide the MRI scan required for her treatment to continue, leaving Bernadine and her family searching for another option.
A specialist at a cancer treatment centre can perform the MRI scan and continue the treatment she urgently needs. The cost of the scan and treatment is approximately R200,000 —a financial burden that is simply beyond what the...
