Hi, I'm Lynda, and I'm reaching out to ask for help for my husband, Craig.
Craig has just celebrated his 60th birthday, but instead of enjoying this milestone with family and friends, he's facing the biggest challenge of his life.
A few weeks ago, his health took a sudden turn for the worse. He became increasingly short of breath, his heart was racing, and his body began retaining large amounts of fluid. He was admitted to Groote Schuur Hospital, where he was diagnosed with acute heart failure.
During his treatment, doctors also discovered that Craig suffers from severe obstructive sleep apnoea. Throughout the night, his breathing repeatedly stops, causing his oxygen levels to drop and placing additional strain on his already weakened heart.
We are incredibly grateful for the exceptional care Craig is receiving at Groote Schuur Hospital. As part of his treatment, his medical team has recommended CPAP therapy to help keep his airway open while he sleeps, improve his oxygen levels, and reduce the strain on his heart.
