About This Campaign
We recently had the privilege of meeting David Samuels (56) from Cutwini in Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape. David was an avid runner until he lost his leg in 2008 in a car accident. But that didn’t stop him! His love for running motivated him to start training again and in 2011, he went back to the Comrades but this time as an amputee. He’s just run his 13th Comrades in well under 9 hours. His perseverance and determination has driven him to compete in many marathons and ultra marathons achieving unbelievable times.
David trains in the mountains and on the beautiful beaches in Lusikisiki in the Transkei. He’s recently started guiding trail runs for Singletrack adventures and has become a much loved favourite among the runners.
Dr Toogood from East London has stood by and supported David over the years, fitting him with new prosthetics and gear.
He is concerned that David’s prosthetic won’t hold out for too much longer.
