Who We Are
Drachen Hari-Yoshi (DHY) was born in 2008 out of a youth development programme in Mitchells Plain, with one vision: to give at-risk youth a chance to rise through the power of dragon boating. Against all odds — and without a cent of external funding — our founding members have kept the club alive, coaching, mentoring, and leading by example.
For us, dragon boating is more than a sport. It’s discipline, teamwork, resilience, and family. Over the past 15+ years, DHY has grown into a force of unity and strength, dominating Cape Town regattas and inspiring the next generation. At the recent Century City Sports Festival, we didn’t just compete — we conquered, taking first place in every single category entered.
