Help Equine Welfare in Suurbraak, WC, South Africa

Dear Friends and Donors,

Xairu Equine Project is a volunteer-based community project assisting horse owners to access veterinary care, tack and equine education in the rural village of Suurbraak, Western Cape, South Africa. 
Horses are an integral part of Suurbraak's heritage and are used to plow, work cattle and cart. There are roughly 100 horses in the village.

Our Back-a-Buddy campaign is to assist with three current projects:

1. Gelding (Castration) Campaign: Unmanaged stallions are a huge issue in Suurbraak, and account for a large portion of our veterinary challenges (fighting and injuries caused to other horses) as well as resulting in overbreeding. We aim to geld as many stallions as possible, as often as funds are available.
2. Immunocastration Campaign: Immunocastration is a method of sterilisation by vaccinating animals against hormones that control reproduction. It's a temporary alternative to surgical castration, and requires two injections every year. Our campaign will offer this serv...
