Ferdi vd Berg is a 40 year old male with a gentle heart and courageous spirit but he is fighting a devastating medical battle that has taken an extreme toll from him.
Once active and on the go, Ferdi is now 80% wheelchair-bound due to severe vascular disease,a distended gallbladder with duct stones and a damaged spine.
He suffers from constant excruciating pain and limited mobility. Due to severely impacted circulation, he developed dry gangrene in his one toe - a dangerous condition that without intervention, can lead to life threatening infection or even amputation.
Ferdi is unemployed due to his rapidly declining health and has no medical aid or insurance.
His pensioner mother and family has supported him so far but are financially and emotionally exhausted.
Government hospitals are overwhelmed and under resourced and immediate action is needed to undergo :-
a) vascular surgery- to remove clots and restore circulation
b) gallbladder surgery (ERCP and cholecystetomy) - to relieve pain and stop further organ damage
