Help Rethabile Beat Cancer and Get Back to the Life She Was Building

Hi, my name is Rethabile Pebetse Mohlala, and I’m from Kempton Park, South Africa.

Just a few months ago, I was living my life, going to school, growing, dreaming about my future and enjoying the things that made me happy. I was flourishing at school, working towards my goals and building a future I was excited about.

Then, in July 2026, everything changed.

I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) — an aggressive type of blood cancer.

In a moment, the life I knew had to be put on hold.

Instead of focusing on school, my friends, my dreams and my future, I am now spending my days undergoing intensive treatment and chemotherapy at Netcare Pretoria East Hospital. My education has had to take a back seat while I focus on the most important thing right now: fighting for my health and my life.
