Hi, I'm Roxanne, though many people know me as Roxy.
I've loved to dance and perform for as long as I can remember. My mom actually called me her “raindancer” before I was even born, because I was always moving in the womb.
Now, at 30, after years of pursuing my dream and building a career as an independent performing artist, a serious ankle injury has left me unable to work as I once could.
An MRI revealed significant cartilage damage in my right ankle (an osteochondral defect), as well as tendon problems affecting both ankles (PTTD). Walking has become painful, standing for long periods is difficult, and everyday activities that many people take for granted now require careful planning. Left untreated, these injuries could lead to early-onset osteoarthritis and further deterioration of my mobility.
As someone whose life and work have always revolved around movement, this has been a huge challenge — for my physical mobility, my career, and my mental health.
