Support Seanna's Fight Against SMA Syndrome: Bringing Hope to Life 2.0
Imagine being in excruciating pain every single time you consume anything thicker than a clear liquid. Pain that feels like someone is stabbing you over and over in the same place. Being doubled over in pain and unable to move. Now imagine that you are only 13. Meet Seanna Kaitlyn Potgieter. Seanna is a kind and caring 13-year-old, who started experiencing abdominal pain post a COVID-19 infection in 2022.
Over the next 2 years, we were in and out of doctor’s rooms and hospitals trying to find the cause of her agony. On the 30th of August 2023, we finally received our official diagnosis – Seanna has SMA Syndrome.
Superior mesenteric artery (SMA) Syndrome is a very rare disease defined as compression of the third portion of the duodenum between the abdominal aorta and the superior mesenteric artery.
