On the 23rd of October 2024, my Dad, Hennie, was travelling from Johannesburg back home to Grahamstown. Just outside Bloemfontein, an oncoming truck's tyre burst, and the truck swerved into my dad's lane, and hit my Dad's vehicle head-on. My Step-Mom and her mother both passed away in the accident.
My Dad has a bad head injury, fortunately with no brain damage. He also has multiple fractures and body trauma. He has recovered consciousness, but his concussion is quite severe, and causes confusion and memory loss, as well as dizziness and blurred vision.
He was a fit & active person, and guided many clients as a Professional Hunter. Due to this horrific accident, my Dad is not going to be able to carry on his profession for quite some time. The Doctors have said his head injury could take between 6 months to 2 years to resolve. As his profession is a dangerous one, he would need to be 100% cleared by his Doctors before being able to guide a client safely.
