On Saturday, 7 March 2026, our very special friend Jason Kilian, known to many as Modderbok from Modderbok Adventures, was involved in a serious motorcycle accident just outside Carnarvon in the Northern Cape, South Africa, while completing the final stretch of an extraordinary journey.
Jason had set out to complete the Epic Ride 2026, a remarkable endurance challenge: a solo 3-day, 3,000-mile ride from Pretoria to Stellenbosch. Riding approximately 1,000 miles (1,610 km) per day across three consecutive days, he pushed through heavy rain, strong winds and extreme fatigue — all in support of the Hero Burn Foundation, an organisation that helps burn survivors and their families rebuild their lives after trauma.
This ride was never about personal glory.
