Kelli’s Fight Against CTX
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are having problems with payment (have noticed some international donors are running into issues, the bank account details are at the end of this message if you'd rather send directly.)
Our dearest Kel is just 30 years old, and she’s battling Cerebrotendinous Xanthomatosis (CTX) - a rare, progressive genetic disorder that causes brain and nerve damage if left untreated. Fewer than 15 cases are known in South Africa, and support is almost non-existent.
Kelli’s condition is worsening quickly. She lives with tremors, severe leg pain, memory loss, anxiety, and vision problems. She can no longer work or care for herself. Her mom, who is wheelchair-bound, is her only caregiver. With her dad having passed away when she was 12, the family is now under overwhelming strain.
What Kelli Urgently Needs
The treatment for CTX is bile acid replacement therapy, which can slow progression and prevent permanent damage but it is extremely expensive...
