Our little daughter, Leané, was diagnosed with Leukaemia on Friday, 2 January 2026 — something no parent is ever prepared for.
Leané started feeling unwell during the last two days of our holiday. Because she almost never gets sick, I knew something wasn’t right. We returned home earlier than planned and took her to hospital immediately. After several blood tests and scans, the doctor confirmed that it is leukaemia.
Leané is 13 years old — Leané is a truly special girl. She has a bright, sparkling personality, a gentle heart, and a love for music that brings joy to everyone around her. She laughs easily, cares deeply for others, and lights up every room she enters. Even in this difficult time, her courage, warmth, and positivity inspire everyone who knows her.
We do not have medical aid, and we were also unable to admit her to a state hospital, as the conditions were poor. Leané was very ill, and we simply could not wait.
