Help Maui Fight Cancer: Give our boy more time!

The Journey

It’s too soon for us to say goodbye to Maui. He only turned 7 years old in February this year. Up until June, he was still his spritely self; running, swimming, digging and saying hi to every person with a huge smile.

We took him to an emergency vet, where it was confirmed that his liver was in very bad condition and that there was a mass in his abdomen. From there, we were referred to Vetscape, a great veterinary hospital in Paarl. After a harrowing week of assessments and preliminary treatment to help his liver while he was in hospital, it was confirmed that he has stage 4 Lymphoma, Sub-stage A (cancer in the internal lymph nodes). Stage 4 also means it has spread beyond the lymph nodes, in this case to the intestinal wall and the liver, causing severe liver damage and dysfunction.
