Help me start a spaza shop

My name is Gugu, and I am reaching out for support from the South African community to help me start a small business that I believe can bring real value back into my neighbourhood.

I am launching a Spaza shop in my garage called Akhani Holdings. Growing up and living in township communities, I’ve seen how important spaza shops are in everyday life. They are often the heartbeat of the area — places where families quickly and affordably get essential goods. Over the years, many of these small businesses have changed, and there is now a strong need for more locally owned and community-driven stores that truly understand the people they serve.

My goal is to build a shop that is proudly rooted in the community, owned locally, and focused on serving residents with fairness, consistency, and care. I want Akhani Holdings to be more than just a place to buy goods — I want it to be a trusted space that supports everyday life in the area.
