Meet Charles – he has been my best little fur buddy for the last 11 years. He has journeyed with me through many hardships, especially the traumatic aftereffects of my attempted hi-jacking in 2012 (https://www.iol.co.za/motoring/industry-news/hijacker-shoots-lady-in-heavy-traffic-1330635).
Charles has been the most incredible comfort and friend to me, his unconditional love and loyalty would be hard for any human to match up to.
On the 28th August 2024, he was suddenly diagnosed with diabetes mellitus which resulted in his health deteriorating drastically and we almost saw him cross over the rainbow bridge that weekend.
Thankfully, he made a miraculous recovery and pulled through and with a change of diet, he has become stronger and healthier than before. But, unfortunately, the effects of the diabetes have caused the formation of diabetic cataracts in both of his eyes rendering them as good as blind.
