Support the Kat River Valley Chess Champions: Help Them Represent their School, Fort Beaufort and the Eastern Cape at the Nationals
Dates: 14–20 December 2025
Venue: Gqeberha, Eastern Cape
Goal: We are trying to raise R25,000 for meals and accommodation, basic support during the six-day championship in Gqeberha
From a small school in Fort Beaufort, a remarkable story is unfolding one chess move at a time. The Kat River Valley Chess Club, has achieved what many thought impossible: eight young players have been selected to represent the Eastern Cape at the Mzansi Inter-Provincial Youth Chess Championship in Gqeberha this December. These talented learners have earned Eastern Cape Provincial colours, a rare and prestigious honour in youth chess. Even more inspiring they will also compete in the individual category, where strong performances could qualify them to represent South Africa at the SA Junior Chess Championship in 2026.
