At St George’s Home for Girls, we care for up to 39 girls between the ages of 3 and 18 who have been abused, abandoned, neglected or orphaned. We strive to create more than just a shelter: our mission is to build a warm, loving, and stable environment where each child can heal, learn, and grow.

Right now, we face a very practical but urgent challenge: our industrial dryer has broken down. This might seem small, but for a home caring for dozens of children, it’s a daily struggle. Especially in winter, drying clothes and bedding for 39 girls on racks simply isn’t enough — Cape Town’s cold and wet months mean laundry can stay damp for days.

Having a working industrial dryer means:

Warm, dry clothes and bedding for every child

Better hygiene and health, reducing risks of illness

Less daily stress for our dedicated child and youth care workers who already work tirelessly to keep the home running
