I am Samantha, and I am thrilled to share that I have the incredible opportunity to represent South Africa at the 16th Gichin Funakoshi Cup in Japan! This journey is a dream come true, filled with excitement, gratitude, and a deep sense of accomplishment.

My Karate Journey
Karate has been a transformative part of my life for over three decades. From my early days training under Sensei Dries La Grange in Heidelberg to earning my 3rd Dan black belt under Sensei Bruce Smith in Bassonia JKA, karate has shaped me into the person I am today. Despite facing a knee injury that temporarily sidelined me, I returned to the sport in 2016 with renewed determination.

Achievements and Challenges
Representing South Africa in various international tournaments, including winning a bronze medal at the world championships in 1997, has been a privilege. Each competition has taught me the values of dedication and perseverance that karate instills.

Giving Back
Last year, I opened my own dojo in Alberton, where I now teach and inspire a new generation...
