Help Shakun Ramjee Fight Stage 4 Lung Cancer
We have recently received the devastating news that my mum, Shakun Ramjee (62), has Stage 4 lung cancer (adenocarcinoma) that has metastasized to her brain. She is currently in hospital for pain management as we urgently prepare for the next phase of treatment — immunotherapy, which is expected to cost around R100,000 per treatment, with an estimated 17 rounds required.
We are in the process of upgrading her medical aid plan, which should help cover about 50% of these costs, and we are fortunate that gap cover will contribute around R219,000 toward a portion of the shortfall. However, we still face significant out-of-pocket expenses. The total amount we are hoping to raise will help cover treatment, hospital stays, ongoing co-payments, and shortfalls over the coming months.
