Our daughter, Zoe, and her husband Simon, were just beginning their dream life together. After a small and beautiful wedding in March, they moved into a small home on the banks of the Gamtoos River, filled with hope, love, and plans for the future. Last week, the Gamtoos River flooded. The biggest flood in 100 years, and in a matter of hours, everything they had was swept away in the raging water. Their home was severly damaged, their belongings and rental shacks (source of income) on the river front - gone. Even their bakkie was submerged underwater for a day, leaving them with nothing but two changes of clothing, some last minute grabs and BB, their furbaby.
As parents, our hearts have broken for them. To witness their devastation and know that they have to start over and rebuild from barely anything has been a gut-wrenching experience. In an effort to help them in any way we can, we've launched this fundraiser to help cover immediate needs:
- repairs to their home,
