In 2023 I appeared at the Komatipoort Magistrates’ Court to face immigration charges. When I last spoke publicly on this difficult journey, I was facing conviction, deportation and possible jail time.
In Komatipoort I had to confront my prior actions, and plead for mercy, I was (and am) truly thankful to all of you who contributed so that I could have legal representation that helped me deal with this and avoid what the State ultimately argued for – my immediate deportation.
The days in the Komatipoort Court and jail cell were spent fighting to stay, so that I could have the time to mount the real fight, which is to be able to leave with my boys. It is that fight that I am asking you to help me with today.
It has been many months since I spoke openly about my legal case to be able to return home with my sons. I have not been home since 2019. I have not seen my dad, my sisters. my brothers and 19 nieces and nephews in years now. My sons know their extended family, my family, through video calls and gifts sent for the most part.
