“It Takes a Village: Help Us Secure Land for Ubuntu Learning Center”

My name is Daphné Eksteen. I am the mother of two beautiful children, the wife of a wonderful husband, and the co-founder of Ubuntu Learning Center Pty Ltd, a grassroots initiative born from love, lived experience, and a burning desire to bring real educational change to my community in Robertson, Western Cape.

In 2024, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, a condition that causes chronic widespread pain and fatigue. This diagnosis forced me to resign from my full-time teaching position at the Western Cape Education Department — a heartbreaking moment for someone who had dedicated her life to nurturing young minds. But while fibromyalgia took away my job, I refuse to let it take away my passion for education, my community, and the children who deserve a chance to thrive.

Ubuntu Learning Center is more than just tutoring and about homeschooling. It is a beacon of hope for children whose parents work...
