On the morning of 28 April 2026 at 1 am, something was taken from us that was far more than just a vehicle. Casper, our trusted white Mazda Drifter S/Cab (CAA69561), was stolen from its garage in Maitland. For most people, a truck is just a means of transport. For us, Casper was the backbone of our work, our income, and our ability to serve our community.

Casper belongs to Buildback, a manufacturing, maintenance, and construction company founded in 2005 by Keith Robbertze. Buildback is a platform for change. Through its work, Keith has dedicated years to upskilling individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, creating employment opportunities, and restoring dignity through honest, hands-on work. Every job completed is not just a project delivered but a life impacted.

Casper was the company’s sole bakkie and a true workhorse that carried tools, materials, and the team to job sites across Cape Town. Without it, work has come to a standstill. Projects are delayed, income has been disrupted, and the people who depend on Buildback are directly affected.
